I came across this awesome quote today:
“Victory is realized when we learn to be sensitive to God’s Spirit and to live according to His will and not just our desires.” – Charles F. Stanley
…And if any of our desires are such that we’d fret if someone took the objects of our desire away, we know we are owned by that desire. Hmm… our house, our jobs, our fancy car, our best friend, our entertainment, our coffee… you fill in the blank…
Kind of hits you doesn’t it?
When you read that, you will have one of two responses. (Maybe more but I can think of two). You will be in fear of losing those people or objects. Or two you will say: “Amen!” ’cause you know what’s its like to lose those things and as painful as it was, you eventually and wonderfully were brought to full surrender to Jesus Christ. You learned what it meant to completely trust in Him through all circumstances. You cried out to God in desperation. You fully surrendered and once He saw you were broken and leaning fully on Him, you were blessed abundantly. Really, speaking from experience, there’s no better tragedy to go through because you become richer in the end.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – John 10:10
