God Sees Your Grief

Reflections from Our Zoom Journey in the Freedom Coaching Circle

This past week in our Zoom group gatherings, we entered into a sacred space—a space that often goes unspoken or hidden: the place of grief.

Not a trendy topic.
Not something many of us would choose.
But oh, how necessary.
Because grief is not weakness—it’s an open invitation for God’s embrace.

When we sat together, screens connecting hearts across nations, cities and homes, we realized something:

God sees every tear.
And He cares more deeply than we can imagine.

Jesus Weeps With Us

“When Jesus saw her weeping… he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled… Jesus wept.”
— John 11:33–35 NIV

This short, powerful passage struck us all.
Jesus—King of kings, Miracle Worker, Savior—wept.

Not just a holy sigh.
Not just a pat on the shoulder.
He was deeply moved.
He was troubled and wept.

He entered their grief.
He let His spirit be movedtroubled, and undone by compassion.

Even though He knew He would raise Lazarus from the dead minutes later, He paused.

He let His heart ache with Mary and Martha.

That’s our Jesus.

Every Tear Matters

“You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.”
— Psalm 56:8 NLT

Nothing is wasted.
Not one teardrop.
Not one wave of grief.

God not only notices your sorrow—He collects it.
He remembers it.
He writes your pain into His eternal story with reverence and care.

Reflective Space: Questions to Sit With Jesus

As we shared and prayed together, these questions helped us listen to God’s heart:

  • God, is there a grief in my heart that You see?
Even if I haven’t said it aloud… even if I’ve tried to ignore it… You see it. What is it?
  • God, show me how You see and treasure my tears.
Am I trying to wipe them away too quickly? Are You inviting me to bring them to You instead?
  • God, what does it look like to invite You into my sorrow today?
Are You sitting with me? Holding me? Weeping with me?
  • God, where in my body am I holding grief? Will you come and heal?

An Invitation for You

If you’re reading this and carrying grief in your heart—whether it’s from a loss, a disappointment, or something too complex to name—know this:

You are not alone.
God is not far off.
He is near to the brokenhearted. (Psalm 34:18)

Sometimes, healing begins not with answers, but with presence.
Jesus is offering His presence—right in the middle of your tears.

Would you pause with Him today?

Let Him into the ache.

He already sees it.

And He treasures you more than you know.
