How to Pray for a Bully?

As many of you know, my heart is to always go higher when it comes to praying for difficult people and situations. Otherwise, we will be tempted to be in fear and offended.

Hence, the hidden treasure inside the recent book.

So, how do we pray for and influence someone who is bullying?

I drew from Redemptive Gifts teaching to craft this prayer…

A Prayer for One Who Is Bullying:

Father God, You are just and merciful, full of truth and love.

I lift up [ Name of bully ] before You today, asking that You bring their heart into alignment with Your perfect righteousness. I thank You for the prophetic calling on their life—(whether they know it or not). You have, however, created them to be passionate for truth, to be in boldness, and to see Your kingdom established. But I see how their words and actions have caused hurt, cutting deeply instead of bringing life.

Lord, I ask that You soften their heart with Your love. Let them see through Your eyes and speak from a place of wisdom and compassion. Teach them that true righteousness is never separate from love (1 Corinthians 13:2), and that correction given in anger only wounds, while truth spoken in love brings healing and transformation.

Where pride or self-righteousness has crept in, Lord, humble them in Your kindness (Micah 6:8). Let them walk in the same mercy they have received from You, recognizing that their strength is most powerful when it is tempered by grace. Show them that their identity is not in being “right,” but in being Yours.

At the same time, Father, strengthen me as I seek to be a Mercy person. Help me not to retreat in fear or silence when I see injustice. Give me boldness to stand firm in love, to speak truth in a way that invites healing instead of division. Keep my heart free from offense, resentment, or self-pity, so that I can intercede with purity and clarity.

I ask for Your healing over every heart that has been wounded by this situation. You are the God who binds up the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3), and I trust You to restore what has been damaged. Let Your peace settle over this relationship, and let Your Spirit bring alignment where there has been discord.

Father, let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in this situation, as it is in heaven. Teach us to walk in unity, each bringing the fullness of our design into Your purposes.

Lord, if this bully refuses to be transformed and will never be in agreement with your kingdom purposes, we agree with you to remove them in the way you choose. And instead, Lord, bring in someone for your purposes in this season.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
