This week in our zooms in FCC, we gathered as women hungry for God’s presence—and Psalm 77 met us right where we were!
It’s a psalm full of emotion, tension, honesty, and ultimately, hope.
We watched David pour out his distress, naming his fears and wrestling with the feeling that God had abandoned him. And then, suddenly, somewhere in the middle, everything flipped.
Not because his circumstances changed…
but because his focus did.
He moved from:
“Has God forgotten me?”
to
“I remember the deeds of the Lord.”
From spiraling in emotion
to anchoring in God’s faithfulness.
From despair
to worship.
And by the end, hope had returned—not because David had the answers, but because he remembered Who God is.
The Verse That JUMPED OUT TO Me: Psalm 77:19
For me personally, one verse lit up:
“Your road led through the sea,
your pathway through the mighty waters—
a pathway no one knew was there.”
— Psalm 77:19 (NLT)
What a picture!!
God’s footsteps formed a highway through the sea—
through the impossible,
through the overwhelming,
through the chaos.
A pathway no one saw.
A pathway no one expected.
A pathway no one even knew existed.
Not even Moses.
Not even the Israelites.
Not even the strongest, brightest, or most spiritually mature person in the camp.
Only God saw it.
Only God could create it.
And only God could lead His people through it.
He Still Makes Invisible Pathways
Sometimes life feels like an ocean in front of us—
a barrier we can’t cross,
a situation we can’t fix,
a grief we can’t carry,
a problem with no solution.
But this verse whispers to me:
Just because you can’t see the way
doesn’t mean there isn’t one.
God has paths you don’t know about yet.
His guidance doesn’t always look like:
• a map
• a blueprint
• a 5-year plan
• or even a clear set of instructions
Sometimes His guidance is simply His footsteps in front of us—
and we follow one faithful step at a time.
What We Learned Together
Psalm 77 reminded us:
• Our emotions are real, but they are not the whole story.
• Our unanswered questions are not evidence of God’s absence.
• Our despair may simply be the doorway to remembering His faithfulness.
• Worship changes your inner landscape long before circumstances shift.
• God is already preparing a way where you see no way.
• Sometimes the most miraculous paths are the ones we never saw coming.
David’s story became our story this week.
Prayer Prompts
If you want to go deeper into Psalm 77 with Jesus, try asking Him:
1. Jesus, where am I feeling overwhelmed like David?
2. What part of my story needs the reminder of Your past faithfulness?
3. Show me a “pathway through the sea” You’re preparing—
even if I can’t see it yet.
4. What do You want me to remember about who You are today?
5. What is the invitation You’re giving me in this season?
Pause.
Breathe.
Let Him speak.
Let Him guide.
Let Him steady your heart.
Your Turn
Where is God reminding you of His faithfulness?
What ocean stands in front of you right now?
What invisible pathway might He be quietly preparing beneath the surface?
Share below if you want—we’d love to pray for you.
Because just like David discovered…
Hope returns when we remember who God is.
And God’s footsteps?
They still make highways through the sea!!!
