Rising Above: Seeing What God Sees

When life gets messy, our first instinct is often to react.
To criticize.
To control.
To fix.

In order to make it safe for us.

But what if, in those very moments, God is inviting us to lift our gaze higher and see through His eyes?

“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:19

He is our safe place.
His perspective is higher.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9

In Scripture, we find that God constantly invites His people to see as He sees. When Samuel was ready to anoint Eliab as king, God stopped him:

“The Lord does not see as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7 ESV

When you start to view life through heaven’s perspective, frustration transforms into intercession, and judgment turns into compassion.

✨ Everyday Situations — Look With a Kingdom Lens

Let’s practice this together.

When your teenager spends hours online or on their phone…

Ask God: “What do You see?”
Perhaps He’ll show you a heart longing for connection or purpose rather than rebellion.

When your neighbour leaves their front yard unkept…

Ask God: “What do You see?”
Maybe He’ll reveal weariness, illness, or hidden grief that needs kindness more than critique.

When your child’s teacher fails to show grace to your struggling student…

Ask God: “What do You see?”
You might discover the teacher is weighed down with pressures unseen, needing encouragement rather than frustration.

When your family member leaves the dishes in the sink for the 100th time…

Ask God: “What do You see?”
Maybe God will remind you of patience, grace, or the unseen ways they’ve been serving elsewhere.

When you hear of rising crime, brokenness, or homelessness in your city…

Ask God: “What do You see?”
He may open your eyes to see not just problems, but people He loves deeply—and invite you to partner with His compassion and solutions.

When your community (including church) disappoints you…

Ask God: “What do You see?”
He might show you how He’s still at work refining and rebuilding His family through imperfect people.

When political or cultural conflict stirs your emotions…

Ask God: “What do You see?”
Instead of reacting, listen for His higher perspective—He is never shaken, and His heavenly kingdom still reigns.

💬 Prayer Questions

Take a quiet moment with Jesus and ask:

  • “Lord, where have I been reacting instead of responding with Your heart?”
  • “Show me what You see in this person or situation.”
  • “What are You doing here that I might not yet perceive?”
  • “How can I join You in releasing Your peace, love, or truth into this situation?”
  • “Jesus, what part of Your character do You want me to reflect right now?”

🌿 The Higher Way

The invitation is simple but profound:

LOOK UP HIGHER 🙂

When you ask God what He sees, you step out of reaction and into revelation. You stop living under circumstances and start living from heavenly perspective.

The world doesn’t need more opinions—it needs believers who see through the eyes of love.

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2 NIV

So today, whatever stirs your heart or frustrates your spirit, pause and ask the simplest—and most transformative—question:
“Father, what do You see?”

Read: “God, Show Me What You See”

Bless you to see what God sees!
