Igniting Young Hearts in Belize: A Journey of Transformation

(Photo above of just some of our recent team to Belize in August 2023.)

Dear curious readers,

The excitement has been building, and I’m thrilled to finally share the awaited update! Some of you might have heard whispers about my recent trip to Belize (Aug 9 – 17), building upon the remarkable journey that began last year. The connections that were once like mere dots on a game of dominoes have now transformed into vibrant flow of ripple effects.

Remember my joyful adventure to Augusta, Georgia, this past April? Well, get ready for the next chapter, as the story continues with a Spirit-filled rendezvous in Belize! The Lord formed a dynamic group that transcends geographical boundaries, bringing together like-minded individuals from Canada, Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, and, of course, Belize.

Our journey was a lively adventure led by the Holy Spirit, whose guidance left us awe-inspired. There’s a treasury of stories waiting to be shared, and I’m eager to offer a glimpse of the unfolding events. These are just a few of the stories…

Our main goal was to host a follow-up to last summer’s camp, bringing together local children and teenagers eager to connect with the voice of God. Our activities were like sparks, igniting the flame of their ability to hear Him. Through art, journaling, worship dance, Bible discovery, and even captivating science experiments, we explored different avenues. Along the way, I was joined by a dedicated prayer partner, as we walked the property with a few others as they could join us, nurturing the Belizean leaders on a deeply personal level.

The revelations that unfolded were nothing short of remarkable. Young hearts resonated with God’s heart, tuning into His voice. Leaders experienced profound healing, and a local woman went through a remarkable deliverance. Two enthusiastic male leaders on our team lent their technological skills and craftsmanship to support the camp.

A Sunday evening transformed into a symphony of worship and communion, an event brimming with interactive elements. Guided by the Holy Spirit’s wisdom, Olivia in Belize provided the music, Lisa, from Georgia, shared her testimony, while Missy, also from Georgia, devised a compelling drama narrated by Deanne and Stephen that guided participants through engaging stations (led by Lindsay and Kristi from Georgia, Constance and Diane from FCC).

I partnered with Missy as the two of us had the joy of relationally looking with a smile in each person’s eyes as they came to the table. We blessed them and personally handed them bread and juice for the communion time. It all incredibly came together fostering a unique facet of communion, creativity, intercession, and reflection. The gifts and skills of our diverse team blended into a powerful collaboration. As I looked around, I saw faces radiating with reverence and blessings exchanged from person to person, heart to heart. It was a sight to behold.

But the story doesn’t end; it will continue to expand. Heather and Sheralyn, our partners in Belize, who joined forces with Diane in setting the camp format, will continue the momentum through monthly sessions for the kids, along with Bethany, the dance and worship leader, nurturing the seeds of wisdom and practice.

Though Zoom screens may separate us, our hearts, united by the Holy Spirit, know no bounds. Online reunions beckon.

As this remarkable chapter draws to a close, my heart is brimming with gratitude and yearning. The memories of Belize linger, and the bonds we formed will forever be held in my full heart. This journey was a delightful sequel to last year’s adventure, a continuation of a story where God’s script is unmatched.
